On Wednesday, 1 October, the Barretts team proudly visited the Rochester headquarters of Air Ambulance Charity Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) to witness a truly special moment - the unveiling of our name on their newest helicopter, G-KSST.
But this is more than just a name on a helicopter.
It’s a symbol of our deep commitment to a charity that saves lives across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex - every single day.
Through our support of KSS’s Buy it for Life campaign, Barretts has helped fund the purchase of this vital aircraft. By owning the helicopter outright, the charity saves around £500,000 annually - funds that can now be redirected into frontline emergency care, medical innovation, and community outreach.
From the roads of Kent to the skies above, we’re proud to be part of a mission that delivers critical care exactly where and when it’s needed most.
The unveiling was attended by Paul Barrett, Managing Director and long-time supporter of KSS, alongside charity leaders and air ambulance crew members. Paul shared:
“Everyone at Barretts is delighted to support KSS and its critical lifesaving work. As a former KSS Trustee, I know just how important the work of KSS is to our communities. Its helicopters are a lifeline for local people faced with life-threatening emergencies, 24/7, 365 days a year — and we are proud that this helicopter now carries the Barretts name on every lifesaving mission.”
KSS responds to over 3,100 incidents every year, deploying specialist doctors and paramedics directly to the scene. It costs £57,000 a day to run this vital service - funded almost entirely by local support.
At Barretts, we’ve been part of the Kent community since 1902. Supporting KSS is our way of giving back to the people who make this county so special.
Now, every time G-KSST takes flight, it carries a piece of Barretts with it, driven by compassion, powered by purpose.
