Incorrect tyre pressures can jeopardise car handling, reduce grip, decrease braking performance and cause uneven tyre wear. At Barretts BMW, we recommend you check your tyre pressures every 2 weeks.
Tyre tread is designed to disperse water and improve grip on the road in treacherous conditions. The design of the tread pattern allows the tyres to grip the road, improving safety and handling, even in adverse conditions.
Although the legal limit of tyre tread depth is 1.6mm across three-quarters of the circumference of the tyre, this is very low and we would recommend changing your tyres at 3mm to ensure sufficient grip to the road.
If your wheel alignment is incorrect or any suspension components are worn then this will contribute to how your vehicle drives, uneven tyre wear and premature tyre wear

With BMW approved Star Marked run-flat tyres, you can keep driving even when you have a puncture. Your BMW Tyre Pressure Monitoring device informs you if your car's tyres have been punctured, but instead of stopping or asking you to pull over at your earliest convenience, the run-flat tyres allow you to drive up to 50miles at 50mph.
So you'll never worry about having a spare wheel or missing an appointment due to a flat tyre and reduce the risk of an accident with the sudden loss of tyre pressure.
All tyres which have been sold within the EU since 1 November 2012 are labelled to signal compliance with EU standards. When purchasing car tyres, you should take care to ensure that they display the EU Tyre Label which will assist you in distinguishing the difference between various makes.
