Barretts are pleased to be sponsoring The Atlantic Lions, a group of four graduates from the University of Birmingham who together rowed across the untamed seas of the Atlantic Ocean, taking part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
This mammoth journey of 3000 miles saw Charlie, Dave, Joe and Matt battle exhaustion,hallucinations, sharks and sleep deprivation all in aid of the MultipleSclerosis Trust.
The MS Trust aim is to help those suffering with Multiple Sclerosis, a disease which 100,000 people in the UK are living with. MS is an autoimmune condition, and which there is currently no cure for, instead they turn to charities like the MS Trust. The Multiple Sclerosis Trust helps to provide education and awareness and make those people’s lives affected that bit easier and better, whilst also providing training for health care professionals.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge will saw the four men and their specifically designed boats set off from San Sebastian, La Gomera at the beginning of December and hopefully, arrive safely in Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua some 51 days, 16 hours,6 minutes and 51 seconds later . It’s hardly surprising that more people have climbed Everest than rowed across the Atlantic, as the boat and her crew were at the mercy of Mother Nature and her elements.
