Performance - It's a record breaker setting a 7:50 time around the Nurburgring, if that doesn't say it all, this will: The record was made possible by the Type R’s all-new, direct-injected, turbo charged 2.0 litre i-VTEC petrol engine. Delivering hair-raising power, torque and performance – 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 167mph redlining at 306bhp at 7,000rpm, with its peak torque at 400Nm.
Handling - Honda have used all of their racing experience and knowledge in the Type-R, creating the real race car experience for the road. The Honda WTCC team used vital analysis and feedback from the track about performance and styling, which helped to shape the all new Type-R
The R button - Engage race mode with the touch of a button, adjusting engine torque-mapping, steering, and the suspension dampers for maximum performance.
Safety - With a car this powerful, safety is paramount. The Type-R is equipped with state of the art safety features, such as; airbags, traffic sign recognition, blind spot warning, city-brake active system and lane departure warning system.
The Type R is designed to look good from all angles. Those angles however, have been meticulously designed to create an aggressively aerodynamic shape. Maximising two things raw speed and incredible agility. The recognizable red Honda badge at the front end is found on no other Honda, coupled with the angular black grill and LED driving lights gives this car an aggressive stance on the road. From the side the unique vents and grills over the wheel arches indicate a racing pedigree and all add towards the aerodynamics of the whole car. The rear is what really makes this civic unlike any other, the rear angular tailgate spoiler which minimises drag, optimises airflow and boosts down force improving handling, certainly adds drama alongside the quad exhausts. To top this sporty look off is a set of 19 inch alloys shod in 235/35 rubber specifically developed for the Type R. With the Brembo brake package which is a feature of all Type Rs noticeable between the spokes, all this makes it one of the most recognizable hot hatches on the road today.
The cockpit of the Type R has been crafted to place you in the perfect position for a thrilling drive. With everything placed where you need it to be allowing you to have full control. Inside you will find carbon fibre dash and detailing and a pair of high- backed suede sport seats allowing a low driving position. Couple this with clear sporty dials which allow you to see all the important information and never have to take your eyes of the road. Despite the Type R being race ready it still retains some of the practicality traits characterised in the other Civic models, with a boot space of 498 litres and up to 1,427 litres when the seats are folded fully flat, and Isofix points it is a car to use day to day. In the centre console the Honda CONNECT touch screen infotainment system helps pack more into the interior, you will also find an aluminium plaque showing your car's individual serial number. If you ever get bored of the roar from the Type R's engine there is also a premium eight- speaker system upgrade available on the GT pack to allow you to choose the best soundtrack to your journey.

In addition to the standard features the GT grade comes with a whole host more extras including the Honda CONNECT system with GARMIN navigation & CD player, parking sensors and rear reversing camera and forward collision warning.
At the heart of the Type R is an all- new direct- injected 2.0 litre VTEC Turbo engine, which delivers outstanding power, torque and performance in the hot hatch sector.
